What is WordPress? WordPress is pretty much anything you want it to be. And that is just fantabulous. How’s that for a word. Fantabulous! I love Dreamweaver and I use it in conjunction with my WordPress development everyday. Both have their spot in my workflow and are installed on all of my machines of production.

In this video, we introduce the very basic functions of what WordPress can do, and introduce the basic functionalities of it as a web development application.

I would come straight out and say that it is a CMS. Everyone knows that CMS means Creation Made Simple. Ha! Got Ya! No, CMS really stands for Content Management System. WordPress is in the CMS family of Joomla, Drupal and other CMS’. It just took off and the others are great, but didn’t quite hit the buster rockets like WordPress did.

In this video, a prep video for the “Learning WordPress Video Tutorial Series,” we share the concepts of php, mySQL and what one really needs to know to get started with WordPress. This video has a surprise answer in the middle of the video that is a real shocker. It’s a must see. And most viewers that are new to web design or web creation will be quite happy to hear the SHOCKING answer to the question, “What do I need to know up front to get Started with WordPress?”

Many people have no clue what WordPress is. It really surprises me that the few people ( people outside of the world of All things Web creation ) that have a bit of a clue, still think that WordPress is all about blogging and that’s it.

WordPress is a super handy way to build a web site if you have no web site building understanding. But, the fact of the matter is, no web site building understanding and building with that lack of understanding can get you into a lot of trouble months or years down the road once you have put thousands of hours building something that shouldn’t have ever started. You’ll know if that happens.

Trust me.
